Before establishment

Although Jahesh Innovative Business Company was registered on September 3, 2016, the story of Jahesh's birth dates back to years before that. Since the beginning of 2013, when the start-up fever reached Iran, Kaveh Goudarzi and Pouya Kondari played an active role in the startup business ecosystem.

Establishment and Launch

One of the lasting assets of these events was the access to talent and the dynamic network of startup and innovation ecosystem activists from various cities across Iran, which further motivated the establishment of Jahesh. In the spring of 2016, the initial idea for Jahesh took shape, and the specialized skills training courses at Jahesh Academy were launched in collaboration with Shahid Beheshti University during the summer of the same year. These courses received an exceptional response from students and faculty members. In the fall and winter, with the organization of more events focused on education, networking, and acceleration calls, over 120 teams and startups applied for participation in the first acceleration cycle. The outcome of these activities led to the granting of an acceleration license from the Pardis Technology Park and the innovation certification from the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and the Daneshbonyan Economy of the Iranian Government.

First Acceleration Cycle

With the warm reception of student teams and startups towards the programs and educational events of Jahesh, Shahid Beheshti University allocated one floor of the Faculty of Brain and Biotechnology Sciences for the establishment of a coworking space and acceleration for Jahesh. After equipping and launching this space, nine selected startups were settled and focused on developing their ideas and products. In December 2017, through an agreement between Jahesh and the Tandis Investment Group, the necessary funding for the operation and growth of startups in the first and second cycles was secured.

Second Acceleration Cycle

In 2018, the call for the second acceleration cycle was announced. Out of over 100 applicant teams and startups, 7 startups were selected for investment and residency at Jahesh. The inflationary economic conditions in the country during this year made entrepreneurship and startup establishment challenging. However, startups such as AsanSport and BaniCaster emerged as successful outputs of this cycle.

Developing Innovation Spaces

With the value-creation engine ignited at Shahid Beheshti University and expanding connections within the innovation ecosystem, Jahesh conducted comprehensive research on leading and successful global ecosystems in response to a request from the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Daneshbonyan Economy. A booklet titled "Designing and Launching the Smart City Hub of the Middle East" was authored, highlighting key contributors such as the Vice Presidency, Innovation and Prosperity Fund, universities, Tehran Municipality, and Irancell. This initiative was well-received by the then-managers of these organizations.
In the same vein, the Vice Presidency introduced special support and incentives for entities developing innovation spaces in Iran. Jahesh, under a contract with Islamic Azad University, took responsibility for designing, launching, and managing the Smart City Innovation Hub, spanning over 8,000 square meters across 10 floors in the Faculty of Management and Accounting building on Enghelab Street. However, following changes in university management and their failure to honor the contract, the space was repurposed under different objectives and is now managed as the Dr. Gharib Innovation Building.

Jahesh Opportunities

In 2020, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and universities transitioning to online operations, Jahesh relocated to a privately-owned, 1,000-square-meter building on Forsat Street (near Ferdowsi Square). This move set the stage for building a comprehensive innovation ecosystem for Jahesh.

Infrastructure Development

In this year, Jahesh established specialized departments, including the Investment Unit, Co-Working Space Management, Jahesh Online Education, and the Startup Studio with an open innovation approach. These efforts led to numerous collaborations among innovation ecosystem players. Each department faced its own challenges and achievements, including the full occupancy of the co-working space and the formation of a waitlist, hosting specialized events, investing in two startups, recording and producing educational content as part of corporate social responsibility, identifying design and programming teams in the Startup Studio, and offering services to neighboring countries and North America.

Expanding Connections with Industries, Organizations, and International Stakeholders

To build a comprehensive innovation ecosystem, Jahesh initiated multiple projects and collaborations with innovative industries and major Iranian organizations, under the With the help of of Dr. Pedram Varshokar, a member of its board of directors. These projects primarily focused on consulting and designing specialized innovation and acceleration centers, as well as offering alternative financial solutions based on innovative models such as crowdfunding, NFTs, and crowdsourcing. Jahesh also successfully registered its official branch in the United Kingdom, with Amir Parsa, another board member, undertaking this significant mission. Moreover, Kaveh Goudarzi, along with a group of co-working space experts, founded the Co-Working Spaces Association under the Iran Chamber of Commerce and served on its executive board for two years.
